How To Improve Your Website – Writing Classes

If you have a business, organization or charity, you should have a website. It has been proved that organizations that are online grow four times faster than those that are not. With the number of people online, and therefore, purchases made increasing all of the time it is crucial that your company has a strong online presence. There are many online resources and training classes that can provide specific advice on your website and the writing on it, but this article aims to provide a brief overview of the areas you really should be thinking about.

Get Inside Your Customers Head

It is surprising how many people have a website built without even thinking about the experience of their customers. Just because you like the design doesn’t mean that your potential customer will. Before building your website it is worth canvassing opinion from people not in your industry to see how they view the site.

Similarly, when it is built get someone to use it for the first time and see how easy it is to navigate. If you use it everyday you might know where to look but it doesn’t mean a potential customer will.

Content Is King

The writing that you have on your website is crucial if you are trying to make sales and get your website higher up the search engine rankings. The writing needs to be attractive to the customer; personable, in a font that is easy to read with plenty of white space. It also needs to be attractive to Google. Google loves new content; the more relevant content is included on your website the more you are likely to be found by search engines.

Include keywords relevant to your product on your industry and try and be interesting. The more interesting your writing the more likely people will link to your website increasing the number of times your website is found.

Create Enticing Landing Pages

When a potential customer lands on your website what do they see? Is there an opportunity to make a purchase, fill out a form or contact you direct? You need to make sure that your pages are relevant to the link that directed the person to that page otherwise they are likely to click off immediately. If you do want to sell something or generate a lead make sure there is a clear opportunity for the client or customer to fulfill your objective. Once you have them on the site you don’t want them leaving without making a purchase or providing the information that you want.
